Amazon SmileCaddy is ridiculously easy to run.
For Caddy, I knew I didn't need much hardware. The program itself uses less than 35MB of space, and no more than 50MB of RAM.
So naturally, I went overboard.
Since I already had it laying around, I used a small form factor desktop from AWOW. I received the device at a discount for doing a review, and I couldn't find any reason to use it before running Caddy.
The device specs are:
As you can see, this device is really not meant for more than light web browsing in the consumer space. I was never going to use this thing as such, and I'm sure I was going to have a hard time finding someone I could pawn this onto. I'm happy that I didn't, as the low TDP of the device as a whole (less than 20W under load!) meant that I could run this machine 24/7/365 without severly affecting my power bill each month.
The device can be found here on Amazon.
I'm like to tinker, so naturally, my curiosity got the best of me. I opened the device up to see what made it tick, and my findings were shocking. I found the 128GB SATA SSD, as well as an identical socket on the opposite side. What's more is that both of the M.2 slots allow the connection of NVMe drives, which I verified can both use 2TB drives. That's not including the ability to use a 2.5" drive that can be attached to the bottom cover. I don't think the power supply for this PC would allow the power draw of a mechincal hard drive, but even so, this little device can theoretically have up to 20TB of space, assuming you can utilize two 8TB NVMes from Sabrent, and a 4TB SATA from SanDisk or Samsung at the same time. Please note that I am not sponsored by AWOW or Amazon, and this should not be considered a paid advertisement.

Amazon SmileThis device was my temporary Caddy host while I switched the above computer from a Windows host to Ubuntu. It performed just as well during this time.
